A troubleshooting guide to help when a 404 error for the "ag.php" script occurs during banner delivery.

Symptoms

A 404 error occurs during banner delivery, noting that the "ag.php" script cannot be found.

Troubleshooting Process

Step 1: Confirm Situation

This issue is a known issue under the following circumstances:

• You are running Revive Adserver 4.1.0 or later;
• You have upgraded from a previous version of Revive Adserver, and at some point were running a version prior to 4.0.0; and
• Before you upgraded, you had banners in place that used the "Alter HTML for click-tracking" option for Google Adsense banners.

Background

As a result of the continual evolution of Google Adsense banners, it became impossible to successfully alter Google Adsense banners automatically in Revive Adserver to be able to accurately track clicks on Google Adsense banners in Revive Adserver. As a result, as of Revive Adserver 4.0.0, this feature was deprecated, and removed from the UI.

However, it was not until the release of Revive Adserver 4.1.0 that the actual files related to the deprecated Google Adsense tracking were removed. Unfortunately, this means that users who still have valid banners from before Revive Adserver 4.0.0 with the Google Adsense click tracking enabled in the banner meta-data get a 404 error for the now-removed "ag.php" script.

Step 2: Rebuild Banner Cache

To resolve the issue, re-build the banner cache.
