Banner Cache
Revive Adserver provides a number of options to cache banner details for improved performance. However, as will all cache systems, this means that it is possible for the caches to become inconsistent with the master data stored about the banners.
The Banners sub-menu provides a way to check that the Revive Adserver banner cache is in a consistent state.Â
There are a number of reasons why the banner cache could become inconsistent:
- As a result of a failed upgrade process;
- As a result of a migration of the Revive Adserver code to a new server;
- As a result of manual changes to the database; and
- As a result of the installation/removal/upgrade of certain plugins.
To check the Revive Adserver banner cache, click on the "Check banner cache" link. If issue are found, these will be reported, and an option provided to rebuild the cache.
On very large Revive Adserver installations, it is possible that the cache rebuild process will run longer than the timeout value permitted by most browsers, and the browser will display a timeout error. For most PHP installations, however, the banner cache rebuild process will run until completion. If the browser times out when re-building the cache, try waiting 10 minutes, and then re-check the banner cache. If issues are still found, try waiting again, and re-check. The inconsistencies should eventually all be resolved.
If not, you may need to check your server to see if the cache rebuild process is being terminated before completion by your server settings.
