Use delivery options to place limitations or capping on banner delivery.
Banners can be configured to only be delivered when certain conditions are met with regards to the user's web browser, the site on which the linked zone is placed and the date & time, as well as a wide range of geotargeting options. Banners can also have capping applied to restrict how the maximum number of times a user can see in a given time period.
To set or update the delivery options for a banner, go to Inventory > Banners:
If necessary, use the drop down menu to select the appropriate advertiser and/or campaign, and then click on the appropriate banner name. This will take you to the Banner properties screen. Click on the Delivery Options tab.
To add a new delivery limitation for the selected banner, select the desired delivery limitation type from the drop down menu, and click on the Add button. The new delivery limitation will appear. Set the required options for the delivery limitation, and click on Save Changes to apply the limitation to the banner.
Newly added delivery limitations will not be applied to the banner until they have been correctly saved. Don't forget to click on Save Changes once you have finished setting up or changing a new delivery limitation's options.
Revive Adserver supports the following delivery limitations:
- Client - Browser
Prevents a banner from being displayed based on the user's browser - that is, if the user's browser is (or is not) one of the browser(s) selected from the supported list.
For example (see below), limit a banner to only be able to be displayed when the user is using Microsoft IE as a browser (see below).
- Client - Domain
Prevents a banner from being displayed based on the domain that the user is visiting from - that is, if the user's domain is (or is not) as specified (by exact domain name, simple "contains" search matching, or regular expression). The user's domain is obtained by performing a reverse-DNS lookup of the user's IP address.
For example (see below), limit a banner to only be able to be displayed when the user's IP address correctly resolves using reverse-DNS to a domain that contains the string "big-isp" (e.g. "client12345.big-isp.com").
- Client - IP Address
Prevents a banner from being displayed based on the IP address that the user is visiting from - that is, if the user's IP address is (or is not) as specified (by exact IP address or IP address block).
For example (see below), set a banner to not be able to be displayed when the user's IP address is from the non-publicly routable IP address range of 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255.
