A targeting channel is re-usable set of delivery limitations for a website.
Targeting channels mean that commonly used sets of one or more delivery limitations can be quickly, easily and accurately re-used to ensure that banners are correctly targeted.
Targeting Channels
Targeting channels are a pre-defined set of delivery limitations. They allow:
- A set of delivery limitations to be applied quickly, easily and accurately to banners, to help ensure that multiple banners with the same delivery limitation (or targeting) requirements all have the same limitations applied;
- A simple way to update the delivery limitations that are being used by multiple banners, without having to edit each and ever banner's limitations; and
- A way of overcoming the default evaluation order for delivery limitations, if required.
Inventory > Targeting Channels
To create a new targeting channel, go to Inventory > Targeting Channels:
If you need to, use the drop down menu to select the appropriate website - targeting channels are defined for the selected website, and will only be able to be applied to banners that are linked to zone(s) within the website.
Add a new Targeting Channel
Click on the Add a new Targeting Channel link to create a new targeting channel.
You will need to give the targeting channel a name, and can optionally provide a description and comments.
Once completed, click on Save Changes to create the new targeting channel.
Define/Edit the Targeting Channel Delivery Limitations
Once the new targeting channel has been created, the targeting channel will be shown on the Inventory > Targeting Channels page.
From here, the Edit targeting channel limitations link will allow the actual delivery limitations for the targeting channel to be defined or edited, as required.
Using Targeting Channels
Once defined, a targeting channel can be applied to a banner via the Site - Channel delivery limitation.
Targeting channels will only be available to be applied to a banner once the banner has been linked to a zone in the website for which the targeting channel has been defined.
